Axiom Verge 2 looks to largely be more of the same, but with even better graphics and more complex enemy patterns. Metroidvanias from indie developers are a dime a dozen nowadays, but the original Axiom Verge stood out thanks to its tight controls, varied weapons, and compelling story. Fans who want to return to the aesthetic of Cyberpunk 2077 and also want something they can play with friends should absolutely check this one out. The result is a top-down co-op shooter that, while it isn’t wholly original, has a lot of style. Though Neon Games is a small studio, Epic Games was so impressed with early work on the title, that Neon was awarded a grant to help cover development costs. You can also fully customize your character with a variety augments. A twin stick shooter at its core, The Ascent features a cover system as well as the ability to target high and low points on enemies, all in a destructible, open world cyberpunk setting.

Fortunately, the game is finally out this year, letting players take control of some of the most powerful kingdoms in human history, including the English, French, Mongols, and the Dehli Sultanate. Set in the Middle Ages across 8 different civilizations at launch, Age of Empires IV is the first new installment in the series in 16 years. Listed more than 2 for some but I'm just bad to the bone, sue me.Real-time strategy fans have been waiting a very long time Age of Empires IV, which was announced in 2017. Strong willpower or stacked bank account recommended. Best mount gameplay in MMOs and it's not particularly close.īDO - sick gameplay, good mindless fun if you enjoy just genociding hordes of mobs that don't fight back very hard. Just craft/explore or do w/e you find fun and you'll progress naturally. You can progress/level doing things you enjoy and are not pigeonholed into specific levelling activity. Probably best game if you are casual gamer dad with 2 hours / week to play. GW2 - "Respecting player's time" is bit of a meme but GW2 actually does it.

Progression is horizontal so not very long gear treadmill - this might be pro or con depending on you. PvP can be fun if Cyrodiil is not shitting itself which sadly isn't very often.

Big plus is that you can experience most of the fights ilvl synced, so even though they are easier now than on their release, you still get near full experience.ĮSO - probably best questing experience in MMOs, everything is voiced and quest stories are pretty cool. PvP is also (imo) enjoyable if you can be bothered gearing up which is kinda cringe atm and takes a fair bit of time.įFXIV - story good, gcbtw, endgame fights are very fun, most jobs' gameplay is better than WoW current classes imo if you can get past the odd server tick speed. WoW - polished af, best PvE there is, if you're actually new then there is years and years worth of content, especially if you're into collecting shit.
